Why we built My Pods

Almost every goal app works the same way: a big number that counts your streak, and a reset to zero the first time you miss. It feels motivating for about a week. Then real life shows up — a work trip, a cold, a rough few days — you miss twice, the number goes back to nothing, and the app quietly becomes another icon you don't tap.

We wanted the opposite: something built around the assumption that you will have a bad week, and that the point is whether you come back.

Small groups, invite-first

A pod is 1 to 8 people working on personal goals with a shared daily streak. You don't get matched with strangers. You start a pod and send a link to friends or family — and that link works even for people who don't have the app yet, dropping them straight into your pod when they install it.

That's deliberate. The accountability that actually works is accountability to people who'd notice if you disappeared. So the people in your pod are people you chose to bring in.

A streak that bends instead of breaks

Here's how streaks actually behave in My Pods:

  • Miss one day and grace covers it — the streak holds.
  • Miss two days in a row and the streak rolls back by a single day, not to zero.
  • In a group pod, each member has a rolling deadline of their last check-in plus two days. The shared streak only advances while everyone is still inside theirs.
  • If someone misses their deadline three times, they're automatically set aside from the pod streak — they keep their own individual streak — and they're back in after three on-time check-ins. No group vote, no awkward conversation.

The goal is real accountability without the all-or-nothing cliff. Repeated misses still cost something. One bad week doesn't erase two good months.

One check-in a day

Check-ins are a single daily tap. If you forget, you get a reminder and a marker on the pod that still needs you. There's no feed, no leaderboard, and no score beyond the streak itself. The app asks one question a day and then gets out of the way.
